Radiographic Safety Supervisor Exam Certificate – – Level II

Previously, we learned about the radiation protection officer and their required duties. In fact, the duties of an imaging supervisor, who oversees a team using radioactive sources such as gamma rays or X-rays, require a university degree in science or engineering. They must also possess a Level 2 certification in industrial radiography from an accredited center like ASNT or PCN, have completed radiation protection courses in industrial applications, and have at least five years of experience in radiological and industrial imaging within petroleum facilities. Many people fear X-rays because of the common belief that these rays cause changes in living cells. However, the truth is that the amount of radiation used in dental X-rays is so small that it poses no risk to the patient. It is equivalent to the amount of natural radiation accumulated over several days or the amount received during a domestic flight. Furthermore, modern imaging equipment is designed to deliver the lowest possible amount of radiation while fulfilling its intended purpose. It also focuses the beam exclusively on the desired area, meaning the amount of scattered radiation is negligible. Furthermore, modern films are high-speed, requiring only a very short duration for the beam to be emitted. A lead shield may be used to reduce the amount of radiation to which individuals are exposed, and the operator may leave the room or remain behind a barrier, operating the beam source from there.
